Disability resource centre – Free training to learn about and develop the skills of a Personal Assistant within care


 

Since 2017, the Care Academy has helped many people improve their skills and knowledge of the care sector and raise the overall level of service provided. The Care Academy also helps improve the relationship and understanding between the Personal Assistant (PA) and the person they care for.

Training is available for:

  • Personal Assistants (PAs) already employed by someone to provide their care, will be able to develop their existing care skills and work through the workshops that underpin the knowledge of the Care Certificate
  • People who want to become a Personal Assistant and find paid work from our current job listings
  • Someone who hire’s a Personal Assistant for their care. Learn about the role and responsibilities of a Personal Assistant, how they can support your needs, and what it means to be an employer

Skills for Care – Apply for funded individual employer training for employers and their Personal Assistant (PAs)


 

As an individual employer you can apply for individual employer funding to train yourself and your personal assistants (PAs) with Skills for Care.

This funding is now open for 2024/25 applications and it can be used to cover training costs to develop your skills as an employer, direct costs of completing training/qualifications, hiring replacement support whilst your usual PA is attending training courses and travel.

You can apply for up to five training courses per person and once completed you can apply for more.

How to apply

To apply for funding you’ll need to complete the application form and send it to funding@skillsforcare.org.uk.

Deadline for applications

Deadline for all applications is midday Friday 14 March 2025 and all funded training courses must be started before Monday 31 March 2025.
